At the Olomouc Central European Forum (SEFO) we explore and present visual culture from the late 19th century to the present. We are creating a collection that discovers new contexts and differences in our region and creates a space for discussion about Central European identity. SEFO will become a centre for international research and local events.

Space for collections
Our collection is one of the most extensive in the Czech Republic and the Central European region. It comprises approximately 92,000 works, which we systematically present in exhibitions. We are expanding to be able to include modern and contemporary art, and a new building is being constructed to show all this to the world in appropriate conditions.

Our research team is looking for new connections in the area from the Rhine to the Carpathians and from the Baltic to the Alps. We present our findings to the public through publications, exhibitions and conferences. We create the Central European Art Database CEAD and collaborate with institutions across Europe.

New building
The Olomouc Museum of Art urgently needs a new building for the preservation and presentation of its own collections. In the neighbourhood of the Museum of Modern Art in Denisova Street there is a gap left from the 1970s after the demolition of a building.

SEFO exhibitions
The SEFO programme offers interesting short-term exhibitions of modern and contemporary art and one permanent exhibition, which is now in the Museum of Modern Art building near Olomouc’s Republic Square.
