Special methods of restoration research we tried on Křivák´s Pietà. Fine exapmle of Czech gothic sculpture of the so called Beautiful, we “exposed” to the unique 3D scanning. Several hours and completely free of charge were representatives of companies Moravská modelárna from Uničov and MCAE from Brno with the device ATOS Triple Scan GOM in the photo studio Olomouc Archdiocesan Museum and the result of their work is polygonal 3D mesh of high quality.
“This is a new, non-destructive method of exploration. Three-dimensional model used by restorers for virtual modeling. On computer, so you can complement fractured or otherwise amended parts of the statue to its probable original form without restorer had to physically shape statue, cast, or otherwise domodelovávat complement,” said art historian Jana Hrbáčová that it minimizes the risk of damage only surface itself sculptures, but also its polychrome.
Virtual 3D model will be part of an exhibition on the restoration Křiváková Piety, which will begin on 23 April.
