This self-taught middle aged Olomouc artist began as a photographer at the beginning of the 1980s when he captured the devastated landscape of northern Bohemia in his ‘dark wanderings’. The leit motif of his art work is death and ‘post-mortal existence’. He has travelled through 53 countries on four continents where he has visited cemeteries of numerous cultures and documented them in photographs. At the end of the 20th century his work reached a number of tens of thousands of drawings, dozens of paintings and tens of thousands of photographic material. This retrospective exhibition, prepared in co-operation with the Music Theatre, will be the first to focus on the importance of his work on both a national and Central European level.
