This contemporary replica of one of the most famous tapestries in the world known as the Tapestry from Bayeux came into being in the hands of the Olomouc textile artist Věra Mičková over the years 2004 – 2007. The original tapestry from Bayeux is an excellent exemplar of early Medieval art from the period of the 1060s and 1070s. It depicts the story of the defeat of England by the Norman Duke William the Conqueror on eight bands of embroidered canvas of an overall length of 70 metres with a height of half a metre.
