The Olomouc Archdiocesan Museum has established a tradition of presenting one ‘renewed” unique work of art each year. The aim of this presentation is not only to introduce the often demanding and time-consuming work of restorers, but also the work of art itself with ranks among the most valuable in the collection of older art in Moravia. The restoration work on this remarkable artefact, however, not only restored the original appearance of the statue, but also became a contribution to specialised debates and served to alter the original dating of the statue, earlier attributed to the period around the year 1700 and now to the first half of the 16th century (around 1520?).
