This retrospective exhibition of the Olomouc photographer Jaroslav Vávra, a member of the significant group of photographers DOFO (1958-1975), is the first attempt to capture his artistic legacy in its entire scope. The exhibition aims at incorporating Vávra in the history of the Czech photography of the second half of the 20th century. The photographs available clearly demonstrate that in the 1960s he was among the prominent representatives of nude photography in the country along with Zdeněk Virt and Miroslav Stibor. In this field the artist also experimented significantly in the subsequent decade. It is clear that Vávra was one of the remarkable pioneers of colour nude photography in the whole of former Czechoslovakia. The exhibition is accompanied by Vávra’s first comprehensive catalogue.
