Nela Vicanová

Graduate of Monika Mitášová’s studio at the Institute of Theory. Her diploma thesis After Mining was awarded the prize in the Diploma of the Year 2022 competition. She thematises the anthropogenic devastation of the post-mining landscape of the Ostrava-Karviná coal basin. Her focus is on the affected landscape, its transformation and revitalization. The research framework of reasoning, interdisciplinary and visually strong overlap is determinant for rethinking architectural practice (not only) in unstable landscape conditions. The architect currently works in the Olomouc office of Acht Studio.
