THE LOADED-OPEN PROJECT BRINGS A COLLECTION OF PAPERS ON DIGITIZATION IN PRACTICE

Thanks to a four-year project titled Loaded – Open. Digitisation, Accessibility and Educational Use of Art Collections in Memory Institutions (2021–2024),1 the Olomouc Museum of Art (hereinafter as OMA) had the unique opportunity of digitising selected parts of its core collections and of the collections of the Olomouc Archbishopric, and also of developing and building brand new digitisation lines at its specialised workplaces in Olomouc and in the Archbishop’s Chateau in Kroměříž. All of the texts in the proceedings are based on contributions presented at a closing conference of the project held on 11 October 2023 in Olomouc. They describe not just the process of OMA’s preparation for this challenging project, but also its implementation including the challenges issuing from the incorporation of the process of digitising the collections into its future operations.
