The Olomouc Museum of Modern Art is preparing two openings for Thursday, 27 February. In the first case, the work of Jan Steklik will be presented for the first time in Olomouc in a solo exhibition. V. Art Book Triennial Martin opens the theme of the author's book as an independent artistic artefact.

The exhibition Steklik’s Harakiri at the Museum of Modern Art presents the work of Jan Steklik (1938-2017) in two intertwining lines. The main one, monographic, consists of an overview of thematic cycles compiled from the acquisition made by the Olomouc Museum of Art in 2023, from loans and from a selection from the artist’s estate. The second line has a rather subjective character and presents some of Steklik’s lesser-known actions and realisations carried out under the curatorship of his friend Martin Klimes.

The exhibition at the Museum of Modern Art Gallery will run until 25 May 2025.

The author’s book as an important art form will be presented by the Olomouc Museum of Art in an exhibition that had its premiere at the end of 2024 in Martin, Slovakia, at the 5th edition of the Triennial of Book Art, co-organised by institutions from Olomouc, Wrocław, Bratislava and Budapest. Visitors will see works by artists from the Central European region that bring a new perspective on the book as a medium and push the boundaries of visual art.

The exhibition V. Art Book Triennial Martin in the Salon and Cabinet of the Museum of Modern Art will also run until 25 May 2025.

Admission to both openings, which begin at 6:30 p.m. on February 27, is free.
