The Museum of New Listening: 4& (Mathieu Chamagne, Petr Vrba)
World premier of this new duo presents the meeting of 2 improvisers, with 2 very different approaches of live electronic music: trumpet & analog synthesizers / digital & non-haptic gesture-based instruments (Apertures). These two instrumental rigs blend and interconnect to create a rich and dynamic new improvisational playground, opening to a novative and visual approach of gesture in electronic music.
Mathieu Chamagne
After piano studies he gradually moved towards improvised music, while developing an instrument combining analogue and digital synthesizers, pre-prepared sound objects, and computer tools developed in Max software. He has a passion for electroacoustic music and sound arts, and has been teaching piano and computer music since 1994. Through experimentation and development of innovative interactive devices, his creations explore and question the meaning and role of the musical space in the interpretation of electronic music, blurring the boundaries between composition, interpretation and improvisation.

His unrelenting explorations of non-idiomatic improvisation using trumpet, clarinets, synths, diy electronics, vibrating speakers etc., made him one of the most active experimental musician in Prague these days. Among others he is founder of Prague Improvisation Orchestra, electronical audiovisual ensemble LyrArkestra+ dedicated to interpretation of graphic scores and many bands. His discography counts over 40 albums on labels like Another Timbre, Inexhaustible Editions, Circum-disc, Tour de bras and many others. He is author of several acousmatic pieces commissioned by Czech Radio and music for short movies (like well received Daughter).
