On the second evening of this year's Václav Burian Prize, Prof. Jacek Purchla, Polish art historian and founder of the International Centre for Culture in Krakow, received the award for his contribution to Central European dialogue.

“Olomouc is the heart of Central Europe, which we all love, even though we cannot define it precisely,” Jacek Purcha paid tribute to our city after receiving the Václav Burian Award.

The joint debate with the Director Emeritus of the Museum of Art Pavel Zatloukal in the CENTRAL of the Museum of Art on Friday 18 October 2024 was attended by the Slovak diplomat Magda Vašáryová, the Director of the Václav Burian Prize and Polish poet Zofia Baldyga, and the current Director of the Krakow Cultural Centre Agata Wasowska-Pawlik.

The Václav Burian Poetry Prize was awarded to the Polish poet Urszula Honek (Audience Award) and the Hungarian poet Zita Izsó (Poetry Award) during the competition part of the programme on 2 October.
