The Prodigal Lover of Colours | Stanislav Menšík (1912–1970)

25 Oct 2018 - 27 Jan 2019
Olomouc Archdiocesan Museum
Gallery

The exhibition presents the work of Stanislav Menšík (1912-1970), a painter from Svatý Kopeček, an artist of great talent and expression and touching tenderness and fragility. The focus of his work lies in Christian themes, but he also devoted himself to landscaping, still-life and painting of simple stories and pieces of life. The most significant part of his work was created in the war years with the interpretations of the French painter Georges Rouault (1871-1958), which resonated with Menšíks artistic opinion.
