Jindřich Štreit | (Un)known photographs 1978 – 1989
An exhibition held on the birth anniversary of one of the most important Czech photographers who became famous for his documentation of life in the countryside during fading socialism. He has presented his works in hundreds of individual and collective exhibitions, both at home and abroad, and his photographs are on show in a number of distinguished international institutions (Victoria & Albert Museum, London; International Centre of Photography, New York; The Museum of Modern Art, New York; The National Gallery of Art, Washington; Tokyo Metropolitan Museum of Photography and others).
However, some of Štreits photographs have not yet been exhibited or published. The exhibition and a voluminous publication will cover 20 years of documentary activity which originated in Sudetenland and which is a colourful description of the life in the impoverished border area.
We cooperate in this challenging project with the Institute of Creative Photography in Opava.
