A sculptor, a painter, an illustrator of children’s books, a musician, a dancer… These are the trades of František Skála (b. 1956), a founder of the Tvrdohlaví group (1987), a winner of the Jindřich Chalupecký Prize (1991) and a holder of the Ministry of Culture Prize for his contribution to fine arts (2010). The Olomouc exhibition, the second largest after the one held in the Rudolfinum Gallery (2004), aims at a consistent presentation of Skála’s “joy and amazement at the fascinating artfulness of the structure of the world“. In the vague greyness and boredom that one often experiences at exhibitions of contemporary art, this exhibition may be an inspiring show as it is based on the conviction that beauty can be found  in every detail, however ordinary it might seem at first sight – one only has to look properly.
