Café

Amadeus Coffee & Wine

The stylish café in the grounds of the Archdiocesan Museum Olomouc, in the neighbourhood of St. Wenceslas Cathedral, offers an unusual interior and a summer garden in the historical centre of Olomouc.

Opening times:

  • Mon: 12:00–19:00
  • Tue–Fri: 8:00–19:00
  • Sat–Sun: 8:00–17:00

History of the place:

The ground floor of the early Baroque west wing, built by the chapter dean Jan František of Poppen (1673-1689), was originally used as a coach house. After the construction of a new coach house in the east wing of the residence, the interiors were adapted for economic purposes in the first half of the 18th century.

The cellar under the older northern part of the southern wing of the deanery was built after the Thirty Years’ War under the chapter dean Claudius Sorina (1650-1658) and modified under Jan František of Poppen (1673-1689). The rubble masonry on the northern side of the basement is related to the foundations of the defunct Gothic house of Dean Bartholomew, where King Wenceslas III was murdered.
