From Furč to Poltár

Opening of Tomáš Džadona’s exhibition in Gallery XY entitled From Furč to Poltár. Monument of Folk Architecture (PĽA). This work was first presented by Tomáš Džadoň in 2006. He placed three traditional timbered barns on the roof of a block of flats, although at that time it was only a design on paper. The design blended an interest in Slovak tradition and folk architecture with his own experiences from his childhood on a housing estate in Poprad in the 1980s. The real Pamätník ľudovej architektúry (Monument of Folk Architecture) in 1:1 scale was created a few years later.
