More than one hundred Czech artists have joined the exhibition „Memento Tiziano / story of the transformation in the works of contemporary artists“, which will commemorate 440 years since the death of the Italian Renaissance painter Tiziano Vecellio since 19 May in Kromeříž Gallery Orlovna and Archbishop chateau. Kokolia, Císařovský, Rona, Merta, Balaban, Jirků and other incumbents or aspiring painters and sculptors heeded the call of the organizers and created a paraphrase of Titians painting Apollo and Marsyas, which is part of Kroměříž Archbishop collections.¨

The exhibition was prepared Orlovna Gallery in collaboration with the Museum of Art in Olomouc and the Archbishop chateau and gardens in Kroměříž. Its main part will be installed in the Gallery Orlovna. Paintings and sculptures inspired by Titian works will be exhibited also in the Picture gallery in Archbishop chateau in Kroměříž and in Kroměříž Flower Garden.

The opening will take place on Thursday, May 19 at 17 oclock in Gallery Orlovna, in Archbishop chateau exhibition will begin at 18.30. Part of the opening will also music performances.

Titian painting Apollo and Marsyas (after 1550) is the biggest jewel of Kroměříž Archbishop collections. Monumental, more than two-meter canvas is from March 2 adornment of exhibition at the Met Bruer – the new building of the Metropolitan Museum in New York. One of the most famous museums in the world in exchange for Tizian lent to Olomouc Archdiocesan Museum painting by Spanish Mannerists El Greco Adoration of the Shepherds.
