The collections of the Museum of Arts this year will be exhibited in many prestigious museums and galleries in the Czech Republic, but also abroad. Olomouc thanks to us will be seen for example in Vienna, Brussels, Karlsruhe, Santa Cruz de Tenerife, Bratislava or Prague.

Olomouc Museum of Arts collection-building institution. Art collections creates, complements, cares for them and exposes them. Thanks to the number of managed artworks (about 185 000), the museum is one of the most important institutions of its kind in the Czech Republic.

The proof of the quality of the museums collections is the high number of requests for loans of paintings, sculptures, photographs, drawings and other works of art. The museum closes an average of seventy-lending contracts for the year and into Czech and foreign institutions annually travels about five hundred exhibits.

“We distinguish long-term, short-term and foreign loans. We cooperate primarily with czech galleries, but the number of requests from abroad is growing,”said Vladimír Pospíšil from the Collection Department. From Olomouc to the world mostly travel paintings, photographs, sculptures and drawings.

Olomouc exhibits were already on exhibitions, for example, in Rome, London, Lille, Vienna or the famous contemporary art fair Documenta in Kassel, Germany. “There are, as well as unusual destinations such as Helsinki or Swedish Landskrona last year, where we presented our collection of photos,” said Pospíšil.

This year, the collections department registers great interest from foreign galleries. “We lend our exhibits in ten galleries throughout Europe,” said the manager of collections of paintings, sculptures and decorative arts. And among them are actually “good address” – for example Vienna Galerie Belvedere Centre for Visual Arts “BOZAR” in Brussels, the Center for Art and Media in Karlsruhe, the Museum Wiesbaden, but also TEA (Tenerife Espacio de las Artes) in Santa Cruz de Tenerife.
