Three days will be open free of charge during Christmas Olomouc Museum of Art. From 25th to 27th December, you can get free view current exhibitions in both buildings – Olomouc Archdiocesan Museum and the Museum of Modern Art.
The Olomouc Archdiocesan Museum, which acquired in early December as the first in the Czech Republic prestigious European Heritage Label, visitors will gain an overview of what originated in Moravia in spiritually oriented culture of Romanesque art, Gothic, through Mannerism and Baroque to the Rococo. Just until January 10 is also seen graphic works by Giovanni Battista Piranesi, one of the biggest names in Italian art of the 18th century.
The Museum of Modern Art invites by extensive exhibition of the sculptor Zbynek Sekal (1923-1998). The work of one of the most important Czech artists of the late 20th century, the museum presents through more than three hundred exhibits from its own collection and from 27 other lenders. The exhibition includes examples of the artists work in all fields.
Large space museum dedicated to the exhibition and Catch up and surpass, that means roughly 500 exhibits confronts Czechoslovak and Polish design from the 60s, a golden era of Brussels design. The highlight of the exhibition is a joint presentation of the Polish and Czechoslovakian porcelain, but among the exhibits there are even famous toy Libuse Nickel and its international variants, period furniture, glass, various appliances and collectors curiosities such as sound cards or telephones.
