CELEBRATE EUROPEAN HERITAGE LABEL WITH US
Join us for this weekend’s European Heritage Label celebrations. On Saturday and Sunday, 7th and 8th September, admission to the entire Archdiocesan Museum will be free. Dragon signs will be waiting for you right at the entrance, leading up to the Salon on the first floor. Here, the lecturers have set up a new activity zone for the Fire Dramas exhibition. You will see, among other things, a working model of a fire-breathing dragon and an animated clip by Radim Ševčík based on a script by Hana Lamatová. You will find out how the period performance of St. George’s duel with the dragon was performed using pyrotechnic effects. You will see what the rocket was filled with and how it looked like for fireworks. You will then have room for your own imagination to create your own fireworks on the magnetic board.
During this weekend, access to Zdik’s Palace will also be available directly from St. Wenceslas Basilica. Due to the masses, access from the cathedral to the Zdík‘s Palace (and vice versa) will be possible on Saturdays from 10 am to 5.30 pm and on Sundays from 11.15 am to 6 pm.
In addition to the educational aids on display in the permanent exhibition, you can still watch a short video about the creation of the painting Madonna with a Veil by Sebastiano del Piombo. You can see it directly in front of the work itself on the same floor in the second hall of the Picture Gallery of the Olomouc Bishops and Archbishops.
Workshop and presentations
For lovers of the Middle Ages and especially medieval manuscripts, a workshop The Story of Oak Balls will be held on Saturday, 7 September from 15.00 and a presentation of sacral monuments in the Slovak region of Gemer will begin at 17.00.
