Seven years have passed since the Victor Vasarely exhibition organized with the collections of the Janus Pannonius Múzeum in Pécs. At this occassion we managed to establish contacts with the artist’s grandson – Pierre Vasarely who is the administrator of his artistic estate. It is almost impossible to acquire original art pieces of the pioneer of op-art. Therefore, we became really ecstatic when, thanks to contacts with Pierre Vasarely and with support of the Ministry of Culture and the Olomouc Region, we managed to enrich our collections with two works of art: the Harmas tapestry (1966) and the Terek painting (1951). From January 29, both of these works are presented at the New acquisition I exhibition. They are complemented with a set of 15 serigraphies in the property of Fondation Vasarely in Aix-en-Provence. After a personal visit of Pierre Vasarely in Olomouc and other negotiations, we received surprising news: The Museum of Art has a unique opportunity to extend its collections with a comprehensive set of 33 serigraphies from Fondation Vasarely and thus become the only state-owned institution in the Czech Republic which owns a set of works by Victor Vasarely from 1951 – 1986. From June 11, you can come and see the second part of the set.
