Artist & Man Personalities of world painting | A long cycle of lectures by Ladislav Daniel
The German painter Adam Elsheimer left his native Frankfurt around 1600 for Rome, where he joined the Caravaggists. Darkness developed in small formats of landscapes with small figural scenes. He served them in soft handwriting in ingenious colors, often in night scenes with surprising light effects. He strongly inspired Italian and Transalpine painting.
